The first meeting of a busy period took place at Onchan Raceway on Monday evening.
Old Lonan Church Farm Cottages Formula 2 Manx Open Championship 2018
Steve Smith from Ormskirk in Lancashire raced to victory taking wins in both heats and the final, closely followed by James Yule from Scotland and local driver Dougie Kinrade. Regular visitor Aaron Vaight suffered engine problems throughout the meeting. Les Smart from Gateshead finished all races. Smith decided to take the one lap handicap having the choice being the final winner scoring 6 points, adding to his total. Dougie Kinrade was presented with the Roy Ogilby Shield as top point score over the last 3 meetings.

Micro Formula 2 T.T.
Making a very successful first ever visit to Onchan and the Isle of Man were the Micro F2s, these are purpose built single seat racers driven by 7 to 11 year olds. 13 competitors impressed the crowd with their driving skills at a young age. The meeting was kindly sponsored by Altrincham Skip Hire. #51 Joelan Maynard won race one, followed home by #533 Alfie Joynson and #218 Jake Watson. #8 James Owen adapted well to the new track and won the remaining 3 competitive races. Other high place finishers were #300 Coby Laing, #306 Oliver Heron and #149 Adam Prest. With more youngsters due to arrive for the remaining 2 meeting which take place this Thursday 26th and Saturday 28th the action will be good with 21 cars on track.
Swift Motors Production Rods
Production Rods were down in numbers, but the racing was good and very close. #19 Marie Craine led all but the last lap of race one when Tina Quayle squeezed past taking the win, Craine crossed the finish line side by side with Lauren Miller in joint second. Miller won race 2 with Quayle taking the chequered in race 3 finishing ahead of Miller, India Cowin and Craine. Gold Cup leader after 2 rounds #931 Brandon Parker suffered front suspension damage in race one, with no points added to his total. With all scores counted Lauren Miller was declared 2018 Gold Cup winner, scoring just one point more than Tina Quayle.

Tina was awarded the Victory Lane Ladies trophy as top point scorer over this meeting.

#24 Lee Jordan continued his winning ways taking victory in race 1. #667 Nick Collister led race 2 from start to finish, with the other drivers chasing hard. #270 James Watson made a successful return to racing, being runner up in race 1 and taking the win in race 3.

Lee Jordan was also presented with the Onchan Commissioner Cup as top point score over the last 3 meetings.
Racing resumes this Thursday 26th July featuring Formula 2 Manx Open round 2, Micro Formula 2s, Manx Ministox and National Ministox, who will also be in action on Saturday 28th and Monday 30th July.
All meetings start at 7.30pm.
