Another busy meeting took place at Onchan Raceway on Thursday evening.
Old Lonan Church Farm Cottages Formula 2 Manx Open Championship 2018
#299 Steve Smith from Ormskirk in Lancashire raced to victory taking wins in both heats and the final, extending his lead in this years Manx Open Championship. Smith was chased hard by the remaining drivers. #184 Aaron Vaight closed in but ran out of laps before he could make a challenge for the lead. #980 James Yule from Scotland and local driver #164 Dougie Kinrade were also in the mix.
#408 Faye Smith from Macclesfield made a spectacular debut at Onchan driving her Formula 2, Faye clipped an infield marker tyre which launched her crossing the start line with all wheels off the ground.

Micro Formula 2 T.T.
Following on from a very successful first ever visit to Onchan and the Isle of Man were the Micro F2s, these are purpose built single seat racers driven by 7 to 11 year olds. 21 competitors impressed the crowd with their driving skills at a young age. The meeting was kindly sponsored by Popular Garage of Altrincham.
Race one was won by Christina Sillifant who had travelled all the way from Cornwall to race here on the Isle of Man, followed home by Oliver Heron from Skelmersdale and James Owen from Hendesford. James then raced to victory taking the chequered flag in races 2 and 4. Race 3 was led from the first lap by Joshua Dent from the West Midlands who stayed ahead of Coby Laing and Christina Sillifant. The last meeting of the Micro F2 T.T.takes place on Saturday.

Our local drivers were joined by Sam Critchley who chose Onchan Raceway to make his very first race debut. Jack Dobson continued his winning ways claiming victory in all 3 races. The other drivers raced well making Jack work hard for the wins. Sam finished and scored points in all races, gaining lots of experience.
The Barbary Coast Bar and Grill sponsored trophies were awarded to :- 1st Jack Dobson, 2nd Josh Watson, 3rd Jordan Halligan-Bunce.
Jack Dobson was also presented with the Replica Sword of State Trophy by last year’s winner Ted Davis.
Mann Construction National Ministox T.T 2018
Thirteen National Ministox contested a Gold Roof qualifying round, good close racing saw #381 Tyron Evans win race 1, then twin brother Lewis #392 won the remaining 3 races overcoming fierce competition from National champion #1 Jack Witts.
All the drivers raced fast and hard.
Racing resumes this Saturday 28th July featuring Formula 2 Manx Open round 3, Micro Formula 2s, Manx Ministox and National Ministox, who will also be in action on Monday 30th July.
