OLD LONAN CHURCH FARM COTTAGES FORMULA 2 MANX OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP.
The final round of the 2018 Formula 2 Manx Open Championship took place on Saturday. #299 Steve Smith continued his good form taking the chequered flag in race 1 and 3. With total points scored during the 3 meetings added together the top 3 drivers were presented with the Old Lonan Church Farm Cottages trophies.
1st Steve Smith 58 points
2nd Dougie Kinrade 40
3rd Aaron Vaight 39
Steve Smith was also awarded with the replica Manx Sword of State trophy.
Aaron Vaight solved his problems from earlier in the week winning race 2 and the Minty Shield, which is always a hotly contested event with drivers lined up in a closed grid and positions determined from points scored during the Manx Open and reversed. Aaron upheld tradition by running around the banked track with chequered flag and the Minty Shield held high.
Micro Formula 2 T.T.
Tonights Micro Formula 2 T.T was kindly sponsored by M.D.KEY TRANSPORT
The 7 to 11 year old children continued to impress the spectators while racing the Micro Formula 2 stockcars. 20 visiting teams from all parts of the U.K put on a very entertaining show, all the drivers need congratulating on their driving skills adapting to the tricky track conditions which changed throughout the evening. #51 Joelan Maynard won races 1 and 4 with race 2 won by #607 Christina Sillafant, race 3 was won by #721 Joshua Dent who punched the air in triumph as he crossed the finish line. #425 Boden Murfin was unfortunate to roll on the opening lap of race 2, but his car was quickly fixed so he could enter the remaining races, finishing a close second in race 4.

#64 Sam Critchley visiting from England raced to a flag to flag victory in race one competing in only his second ever race meeting. Sam also led race 2 until the lap boards were shown, he was passed by #179 Jordan Halligan-Bunce and eventual winner #1 Harry Watson. Jordan Halligan-Bunce made amends by winning race 3. The Mann Construction sponsored trophies were presented to :- 1st Jordan Halligan-Bunce, 2nd Harry Watson, 3rd Pemma Nissanka.
MANN CONSTRUCTION NATIONAL MINISTOX T.T.
#1 Jack Witts reigning National Champion drove a faultless meeting claiming victory in all 4 races, his other competitors all raced well and put up stiff opposition with the race lead changing hands several times, but Jack led when it mattered. As darkness fell over the track spectators could see the sparks fly as Minis raced 3 a breast and clashed with the safety fence.
