Drivers had to endure another wet and challenging race meeting at Monday evenings Barbary Coast Grill and Bar sponsored event.
1st CHOICE WINDOWS MINISTOX.
The wet and slippery conditions did not deter the 7 young Ministox drivers, who all raced well, each fighting hard for the respective positions. #179 Jordan Halligan-Bunce raced to victory taking the chequered in race 1, championship rivals #51 Ted Davis and #17 Harry Watson gave chase but had to settle for 2nd and 3rd places. #25 Pemma Nissanka finished 4th ahead of #324 Jack Dobson, #27 Josh Watson and newcomer #777 Jake Hooper. Ted Davis won race 2 closely followed by Harry Watson and Jordan Halligan-Bunce. Race 3 saw the lead change several times between the 3 wet weather specialists, Ted Davis took the lead from Jordan Halligan-Bunce, then Harry Watson took control leading as the lap boards were shown, Ted Davis challenged and spun Harry Watson, but glanced the fence himself ending his race, Jordan Halligan-Bunce negotiated the spun cars to retake the lead and win, Harry Watson recovered to finish 2nd ahead of Jack Dobson, Josh Watson and Jake Hooper, who drove well in the difficult conditions. The Barbary Coast trophies were presented to :-1st Jordan Halligan-Bunce, 2nd Harry Watson, 3rd Ted Davis. Jordan was also awarded the Whites and Yellows trophy.
MANN CONSTRUCTION FORMULA 2s
#545 Paul Fearn adapted well to the difficult conditions and cruised to 3 wins in the Formula 2’s, finishing ahead of #7 Kevin Hooper and #24 Lee Jordan on each occasion. Good luck to Kevin who will be representing Onchan Raceway and the Isle of Man this weekend in the Formula 2 World Championship Final at Kings Lynn in Norfolk. Paul Fearn won the meeting overall from Kevin Hooper and Lee Jordan. Kevin was also awarded the Wilf Blundell shield as top point scorer over the last 2 meetings. The 2017 MANN CONSTRUCTION FORMULA 2 CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHIES were also presented to :- 1st #503 David Sutcliffe, 2nd #164 Dougie Kinrade, 3rd #7 Kevin Hooper.
A&J QUALITY BUTCHERS BANGERS.
A destructive banger session saw #9 Spud Collister win race 1 from #71 Steven Guest and #293 Jordan Brown. #18 Grant Crellin took the win in race 2 beating #536 Adam Quayle and #4 Ciaran Egan. Race 3 was won by sole survivor Spud Collister. The Barbary Coast Grill and Bar sponsored trophies were awarded to 1st Spud Collister, 2nd Grant Crellin, 3rd Ciaran Egan.
ONCHAN RACEWAY PRODUCTION RODS.
#134 Leonie Marchbank revelled on the wet slippery track, splashing to victory in Production Rods race 1 leaving the chasing pack to fight for positions. #77 Robert Hooper finished 2nd with #16 Paul Craine 3rd. A crash which involved most of the competitors at the start of race 2 required a complete restart, #22 Nick Ford won the restarted race, chased hard by Leonie Marchbank, #59 Sarah Wass and #28 India Cowin. Nick Ford also won race 3 from Leonie Marchbank, India Cowin and Sarah Wass. The Barbary Coast trophies were presented to :-1st Leonie Marchbank, 2nd Nick Ford, 3rd Sarah Wass. Leonie was also presented with the Victory Lane Ladies trophy.
The 2017 Stock car season ends this Sunday 10th September with the End of Season Demolition Derby gates open at 1pm, racing from 2pm.
