#17 IN THE RACEWAY RULES :- DRIVERS MUST REMAIN IN THEIR CARS WITH CRASH HELMET AND SAFETY HARNESS SECURLY FASTEND WHILST ON TRACK, AND SHOULD SIGNAL TO THE NEAREST MARSHALL
( THUMBS UP IF THEY ARE OK ) IF A MARSHALL THINKS A DRIVER IS IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE THE RACE WILL BE STOPPED OR SUSPENDED.
Drivers staying in cars, this was introduced for the 2016 season, as a safety procedure and worked well, so will remain unchanged for 2021.
ORCi STATEMENT 2016 :- this was enforced at tracks throughout the U.K.
With immediate effect, drivers will not be allowed to exit their cars whilst the race circuit is live i.e. under “green” racing conditions. This includes both drivers on the race track whose car has become immobilised and those who retire to the infield who must also remain in their cars with both their safety harness and helmet on. The only exception to this is where a car needs to be vacated in emergency conditions – i.e. fire etc. If a driver is in a car and feels unsafe they should indicate this to the marshal who will ask race control to suspend the race.
If a waved yellow caution or red flag race stoppage is instigated, drivers who are already on the centre must remain strapped in and with helmets on. Drivers who are in immobilised cars on other parts of the circuit may exit their cars whilst the race is suspended but must go into a designated area
which is considered by the promotion to be the safest place to be whilst the race is live,(which may well be off the track completely)
Drivers will be informed of where this area is by means of a driver briefing or driver handout. Drivers who are still unsure of where this area is should ensure they find out where it is before racing by contacting the Clerk of the Course or another senior official.
Please note that the above covers all formulas and race tracks within the ORCi.
Any drivers getting out of cars unnecessarily will miss the following race as a penalty.
FLAG SIGNALS. OUR TRACK STAFF MARSHAL THE TRACK IN ALL WEATHERS, THE FLAG SIGNALS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS ARE USED FOR YOUR DRIVER SAFETY. IF DRIVERS DO NOT OBEY THE SIGNALS EITHER FLAGS OR TRAFFIC LIGHTS THEY WILL BE PENALISED BY MISSING RACES OR MEETINGS. THIS WILL BE COVERED IN THE DRIVERS BREIFING BEFORE THE START OF THE SEASON.

No slicks. Tyres must be road legal types and E marked.
From the start of the 2020 season, a price cap of £80 per tyre will be introduced.
Meaning any Road legal tyre can be used that is readily available to anyone and has a Retail recommended price of under £80 including VAT when the tyre was new.
Proof of purchase / receipts must be kept to ensure compliance.
Alternatively any E marked tyre can be used, ie ex rally tyre’s that originally cost more than £ 80 but the driver using these tyre’s must be prepared to sell the tyre FOR £ 80 to any other 2021 registered Production Rod driver if requested to do so.
The £ 80 fee needs to be given to the Clerk of the Course before the end of the meeting. The tyre will be marked and the exchange will take place in the pit area after the last race of the meeting.
Any driver refusing to a compulsory purchase will be banned from racing.
The wheel and tyre would be removed from the car, the new buyer would be responsible for removing the tyre from the wheel and returning the wheel to the original driver.
Tyre softener of any type cannot be used, random durometer readings will be taken before and during meetings. If unsure ask – anyone caught using tyres deemed not to be legal will loose all points scored throughout the season.
AS WITH THE BANGERS ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS MUST BE ISOLATED THROUGH THE IGNITION KEY AND BATTERY ISSOLATOR.
PLEASE REMEMBER EXHAUST SYSTEMS NEED TO HAVE TWO EFFECTIVE SILENCER BOXES.
DRIVING STANDARDS WILL BE CLOSELY WATCHED, REMEMBER PRODUCTION RODS ARE NO CONTACT. ANY DRIVER ISSUED WITH A YELLOW CARD WILL ALSO HAVE 25 CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS DEDUCTED FROM THEIR SCORE.
ENJOY THE RACING John and Gary Whitehead.
