Monday evening saw the opening round of a busy week of stock car racing featuring the visiting Heritage F2 stock cars.
The meeting was sponsored by Barbary Coast Bar and Grill.
Starting with the visitors who were joined by #358 Mark Hargreaves giving his F2 a run out, they contested two eight lap heats and a ten lap final. Heat one saw #728 Graham Bunter take the honours ahead of #23 John Clements and #533 Andy Kaye.
Heat two was won by Andy Kaye with John Clements second and Graham Bunter third.
The final race saw John Clements take the early lead closely followed by Graham Bunter and Andy Kaye.
The Barbary Coast trophies were awarded to 1st John Clements, 2ndGraham Bunter and 3rdAndy Kaye.
The Window Wizard Junior Rod’s were next out with #800 Macauley Teare picking up where he left off winning the Chemical Services whites and yellow roof drivers race ahead of #11 Kian Staniford, #118 Harry Merryweather, #111 Sam Cracknell and newcomer #113 Sorcha Wade.
Race one of the Junior Rod’s saw some fantastic racing throughout Kian Staniford led until the closing stages where #26 Shannon Moore came through to take the honours ahead of #33 Shane Ellison, #58 Rio Osborne, #119 TJ Teare, #825 Cian Peers, Kian Staniford, Harry Merryweather and Sam Cracknell with Sorcha Wade pulling off in the closing stages.
Race two saw a red flag to stop the race and remove Kian Staniford who’d collided with the safety fence, the restarted race saw Shane Ellison claim the honours ahead of Cian Peers, Shannon Moore, Sam Cracknell and Sorcha Wade.
Race three saw a fantastic drive from Rio Osborne leading from flag to flag, even after a waved yellow flag brought the racing to a standstill, Shannon Moore held on to take second ahead of Cian Peers, Shane Ellison, TJ Teare, Harry Merryweather, Sam Cracknell and Sorcha Wade.
The Barbary Coast trophies were awarded to 1st Shannon Moore, 2nd Shane Ellison and 3rd Cian Peers.
The Mike’s Motor’s Production Rod’s also saw some great racing throughout the evening with #46 Steve Luton claiming the honours in race one ahead of #358 Mark Hargreaves, #327 Vinnie Magee, #240 Lewis Keightley, #88 Callum Tilley, #98 Jordan Dougherty and #34 Jamie Dale.
Race two saw Steve Luton again make his way to the front of the pack claiming his second victory of the evening ahead of Vinnie Magee, Ian Kneale, Mark Hargreaves, Jamie Dale, Callum Tilley and Lewis Keightley.
The final race of the evening was won by Mark Hargreaves with Steve Luton second ahead of Ian Kneale, Callum Tilley, Jamie Dale, Lewis Keightley, Jordan Dougherty and Vinnie Magee.
The Barbary Coast trophies were awarded to 1st Steve Luton, 2nd Mark Hargreaves, 3rd Vinnie Magee.
The A&J Butchers Bangers were next out on the track with a new “spin to win format meaning to win the race you had to have spun another driver or been spun. Race one saw #171 Ryan Edmunds claim the honours after spinning #23 Jemma Moore and going on to cross the line first ahead of #666 Nick Collister and Jemma Moore.
Race two was won by Nick Collister with Ryan Edmunds taking second, the race was ended on lap 7 after #179 Jordan Halligan-Bunce rolled his car after colliding with an infield marker tyre, Jordan climbed from his car to applause from the crowd.
The final race of the evening was won by Nick Collister with Jemma Moore taking second place. Ryan Edmunds limped his car over the line after an early spin left him out of the majority of the race.
The Barbary Coast trophies were awarded to 1st Nick Collister 2nd Ryan Edmunds and 3rd Jemma Moore.
Racing continues this week with meetings on Thursday 29thand Saturday 31stusual start time of 7.30 pm, both meetings will feature Junior Rod’s, Production Rod’s and Heritage F2’s.
