Barbary Coast sponsored Monday evenings stock car racing at Onchan Raceway in great conditions after the wet start to the day.
The Window Wizard Junior Rods were first out on the track, #33 Shane Ellison made a quick start to take the lead on lap one not to be caught despite the great effort made from #825 Cian Peers from the back of the pack, Cian had to settle for second ahead of #10 Kian Staniford, #58 Rio Osborne and #41 Nicole Astell-Burt. Race two saw Shane and Cian again showing great pace making their way to the front to take first and second respectively, Nicole took third ahead of #26 Shannon Moore, Kian Staniford and Rio Osborne. Race three saw Shane Ellison complete the hat-trick taking the chequered flag ahead of Cian Peers, Shannon Moore, Nicole Astell-Burt, Kian and Rio. Race three saw the red flags brought out on lap four after Rio Osborne collided with an infield marker tyre sending the car into the air on its side before coming back down onto four wheels and hitting the safety fence, Rio climbed out of the car to the applause of the crowd. Cian won the restarted race from Shane, Shannon, Kian and Nicole.

The A&J quality Butchers Bangers were next out on track and didn’t fail to entertain the crowds with thrills and spills from the drop of the green flag and only half of the cars completing race distance. #666 Nick Collister claimed the honours in race one ahead of #728 Tom Westbrook, #77 Robert Hooper and #18 Grant Crellin. Nick Collister again raced his way to first place in race two ahead of Robert Hooper, Grant Crellin and #8 Ste Collister. Tom Westbrook took the early lead in race three and looked set to take an easy victory before losing power on the last half a lap allowing Robert Hooper and Grant Crellin to close the gap, Hooper pushed Westbrook towards the line for the closest finish of the evening, with a dead heat being declared, Crellin took third with Ste. Collister fourth. Race four saw Tom Westbrook chase Nick Collister down spinning him on the last lap to take the honours, Hooper took second ahead of Crellin with Nick Collister recovering to take fourth.

The Swift Motors Production Rods were last out on the track with numbers increasing it was set to be a close race. Race one saw #22 Nick Ford claim the victory ahead of #10 Mike Craine, #536 Adam Quayle, #33 Steve Luton, #337 Lee Merryweather and #110 Mandy Craine. Nick Ford again raced his way to victory in race two ahead of Steve Luton, Mike Craine, Adam Quayle, Lee Merryweather and Mandy Craine. Race three was again won by Nick Ford ahead of Mike Craine, Adam Quayle, Steve Luton, Lee Merryweather and Mandy Craine. Repeating last week’s performance Ford claimed another victory in race four ahead of Quayle, Luton, Mike Craine, Merryweather and Mandy Craine.

Racing resumes at Onchan Raceway on Monday 3rdAugust at 7:30pm with spectator gates opening at 7pm, the meeting includes the Junior Rods, Production Rods and the Bangers with the bangers competing in the first round of three for the Commissioners cup.
