WDS Limited sponsored Monday evening’s stock car meeting that started with a driver’s parade lap.
All cars reeved their engines at the start of the meeting in memory of Steve Roper. Steve was a great supporter of Onchan Raceway and would bring his sons racing each year in their National Ministox #3, #33 and #333. Steve sadly lost his 20 month battle with cancer last week. Our condolences goes out to Steve’s three boys Sam, Spencer and Simon and Steve other family and friends. A video of the parade lap can be found on our Facebook Page.
The Window Wizard Junior Rods were first out on track, race one was brought to a halt and restarted after an incident involving #10 Kian Staniford and ending his night. #825 Cian Peers won the restarted race ahead of #33 Shane Ellison, #41 Nicole Astell-Burt and #26 Shannon Moore.
Cian Peers made a quick start and took the early lead in race two to claim his second victory of the evening with Shane Ellison taking second ahead of Nicole Astell-Burt and Shannon Moore.
Completing the hat-trick Peers again won race three from Ellison, Moore and Astell-Burt.
Race four saw Shane Ellison gain the early lead which he held to claim the final race victory of the evening ahead of Cian Peers, Shannon Moore and Nicole Astell-Burt.
The WDS LTD trophies were awarded to 1: Cian Peers, 2: Shane Ellison and 3: Shannon Moore.
The Swift Motors Production Rods took to the track next with 8 cars out on the track, #337 Steve Luton took the early lead in race one not to be caught claiming the honours from #77 Robert Hooper, #22 Nick Ford, #358 Mark Hargreaves, #44 Saul Stapleton, #10 Mike Craine, #536 Adam Quayle and #538 Ian Kneale.
Race two saw Stapleton lead form flag to flag claiming the honours ahead of Hooper, Ford, Luton, Hargreaves, Craine, Quayle and Kneale.
Saul Stapleton went on to win race three from Robert Hooper, Nick Ford, Mike Craine, Mark Hargreaves, Adam Quayle and Ian Kneale.
Completing the hat-trick Stapleton went on to win the final race ahead of Luton, Ford. Hooper, Craine, Hargreaves, Quayle and Kneale.

The A&J Quality Butcher’s Bangers were last out on the greasy track after the earlier rain fall, #728 Tom Westbrook won race one ahead of #24 Lee Jordan, #18 Grant Crellin, #23 Jemma Moore and #119 Mark Brew who had slid his way around the track.
Race two saw Westbrook again take the early lead before ending lap 3 and his race in the fence, Brew came through to take the lead and looked set to take the chequered flag before mechanical issues on the last lap forced him to stop, #18 Grant Crellin took the honours ahead of Lee Jordan and Jemma Moore.
Race three was again won by Westbrook ahead of Jordan, Crellin, Moore and #36 Rhys Brown.
The WDS LTD trophies were awarded to 1: Lee Jordan, 2: Grant Crellin and 3: Tom Westbrook.
Lee Jordan also won the commissioners cup as the highest point scoring driver over the two qualifying meetings.
Racing resumes at Onchan Raceway next Monday 24thAugust at 7:30pm with spectator gates opening at 7pm featuring the Junior Rods, Production Rods and Bangers.
