Thursday evening’s stock car racing sponsored by Onchan Raceway saw round 2 of the visiting Formula 2 Heritage drivers competing on a greasy track.
First out we’re the novice junior rod drivers contesting the Chemical Services whites and yellow roof championship #111 Sam Cracknell made a great start whilst mechanical issues saw a slow start for #800 Macauley Teare, Macauley recovered to take first place ahead of #113 Sorcha Wade, #118 Harry Merryweather and Sam Cracknell.
The Window Wizard Junior Rod’s then all contested the remaining races with #825 Cian Peers making a great start to win race one ahead of #58 Rio Osborne, #33 Shane Ellison, #119 TJ Teare, Sorcha Wade, Harry Merryweather and Sam Cracknell.
Race two saw Rio Osborne make a flying start which he held throughout claiming his first victory of the evening followed by Cian Peers, Shane Ellison, TJ Teare and Harry Merryweather.
The final race of the evening saw Shane Ellison claim the honours ahead of Rio Osborne, TJ Teare, Sorcha Wade, Harry Merryweather, Cian Peers and Sam Cracknell.
The Onchan Raceway trophies were awarded to 1st Rio Osborne 2nd Shane Ellison and 3rd Cian Peers.
The Mike’s Motor’s Production Rod’s saw some brilliant racing throughout with the only female competitor, #34 Jamie Dale taking control of race one and holding on to claim the honours ahead of #46 Steve Luton, #36 Rhys Brown, #538 Ian Kneale, #337 Lee Merryweather, #358 Mark Hargreaves, #327 Vinnie Magee, #88 Callum Tilley and #240 Lewis Keightley.
Race two saw Jamie Dale again make a great start but Steve Luton took control of the race at the midway point taking his first victory of the evening ahead of Ian Kneale, Jamie Dale, Rhys Brown, Vinnie Magee, Mark Hargreaves, Lee Merryweather, Lewis Keightley, Callum Tilley and #98 Jordan Dougherty.
Race three was again won by Steve Luton with Jamie Dale second followed by Rhys Brown, Mark Hargreaves, Lee Merryweather, Jordan Dougherty, Lewis Keightley, Callum Tilley and Vinnie Magee.
Race four saw Steve Luton complete the hat-trick claiming another victory ahead of Jamie Dale, Rhys Brown, Mark Hargreaves, Lee Merryweather, Lewis Keightley, Callum Tilley, Jordan Dougherty and Vinnie Magee.
The Onchan Raceway trophies were awarded to 1st Steve Luton, 2nd Jamie Dale and 3rd Rhys Brown.
The visiting Heritage F2s were last out to entertain the spectators with more drivers arriving on the island since Monday’s meeting, they were again joined by #358 Mark Hargreaves in his modern F2 demonstrating the difference in power and speed of the modern F2s.
Race one saw #64 Paul Sykes take the honours ahead of #135 Jim Cannon, #218 Phil Hiles, #23 John Clements, #728 Graham Bunter, #533 Andy Kaye and #537 Charles Barnes.
Race two saw Jim Cannon claim the honours ahead of Paul Sykes, Phil Hiles, Graham Bunter, John Clements, Andy Kaye and Charlie Barnes.
Race three saw the drivers contest their final with the awards going to the top three drivers in this race, John Clements took the honours with Jim Cannon second and Graham Bunter third, Phil Hiles claimed fourth ahead of Andy Kaye and Charlie Barnes.
To end the evening they had a Grand National race which was won by Phil Hiles from Charlie Barnes, Paul Sykes, Graham Bunter, Jim Cannon, Andy Kaye and JohnClements.
