Old Lonan Church Farm Cottages (O.L.C.F.) sponsored Monday evenings stock car racing held in perfect conditions. The evening started with the driver’s parade which included a baby gender reveal for #18 Grant Crellin and his partner Abbie Williams who found out they are expecting a baby boy on December 17th, Congratulations to both Grant and Abbie.
The Window Wizard Junior Rods were first out on track with #33 Shane Ellison quickly making his way to the front of the pack to claim his first victory of the evening ahead of #825 Cian Peers. #10 Kian Staniford, #41 Nicole Astell-Burt, #26 Shannon Moore and #58 Rio Osborne.
Race two was again won by Shane Ellison ahead of Cian Peers, Kian Staniford, Nicole Astell-Burt, Shannon Moore and Rio Osborne.
Race three saw Kian Staniford take control of the early part of the race before Shane Ellison made his way to the front on lap 4 to make it a hat-trick of wins, Cian Peers took second ahead of Kian, Nicole, Shannon and Rio.
Race four saw a fantastic start for Nicole quickly taking the lead and defending it well with Shane hot on her heels. The race was red flagged and Nicole declared the winner after a collision with a tyre saw Shane roll his car spectacularly. Kian was awarded 2ndahead of Cian, Shannon and Rio.
The O.L.C.F. trophies were awarded to 1stCian Peers 2ndShane Ellison and 3rdKian Staniford.
The Swift Motors production rods were next out on track with #337 Lee Merryweather making a winning return in race one ahead of #22 Nick Ford who chased hard from the back of the pack, #69 Georgina Moore returned for the first time this season to take third ahead of #10 Mike Craine #536 Adam Quayle and newcomer #200 Mike Savino.
Race two saw Lee Merryweather take his second victory of the evening ahead of Nick Ford, Mike Savino, Georgina Moore, Mike Craine and Adam Quayle.
Race three saw Savino take the early lead chased down by Merryweather before the two came together on lap 6, the race was brought to a halt with Savino’s car blocking the track, Merryweather made it a hat-trick winning three restarted race from Moore, Savino, Ford, Craine and Quayle. Savino claimed his first victory in the final race of the evening ahead of Merryweather, Moore, Craine and Quayle.
The O.L.C.F. trophies were awarded to 1stLee Merryweather, 2ndGeorgina Moore and 3rdMike Savino.
The A&J Quality Butchers bangers were last out on the track competing in the first of three meetings for the Commissioners Cup. The drivers provided plenty of entertainment from the drop of the green flag with #398 Charlie Sigley ending lap one in the fence, #666 Nick Collister took the early lead before #24 Lee Jordan came through on lap 7 pushing his way to the front and claiming the honours ahead of #77 Robert Hooper, Nick Collister, #23 Jemma Moore, #171 Ryan Edmunds and #18 Grant Crellin.
Race two saw #728 Tom Westbrook take the chequered flag ahead of Lee Jordan, Robert Hooper, Grant Crellin, Nick Collister, Ryan Edmunds and #119 Mark Brew who made a return to racing after several years.
Race three saw Westbrook again take the honours ahead of Jordan, Hooper, Crellin and Moore.
Race four saw Westbrook make it a hat-trick of wins with Jordan taking second, Moore third and Brew fourth.
The O.L.C.F. trophies were awarded to 1stLee Jordan, 2ndTom Westbrook and 3rdRobert Hooper.
Racing resumes at Onchan Raceway on Monday 10thAugust at 7:30pm with all three classes on track and the bangers competing in round two of the commissioners cup. Regrading also takes place before the next meeting which will alter some driver’s starting positions.
