Barbary Coast sponsored Monday evenings stock car racing held in perfect conditions.
The Window Wizard Ministox were first out, Josh Watson took control of the race winning from flag to flag while Jordan Halligan-Bunce managed to snatch second place from Harry Watson in the closing laps. Race two saw Josh again lead the race claiming his second victory of the night with Harry second and Jordan third. Race three saw Harry take the lead from Josh at half race distance to claim his first victory of the evening followed by Josh and Jordan. Race four saw Jordan come through on lap nine to take the lead and clinch the victory ahead of Harry and Josh. The Barbary Coast trophies were awarded to Josh Watson, Harry Watson and Jordan Halligan-Bunce. Josh Watson was also awarded the Sword of State as the highest point scoring driver over the past three meetings.
Next out was the Swift Motors Production Rods. Mark Hargreaves took the early lead and the chequered flag in race one followed by Mike Craine, Georgina Moore, Nick Ford and Josh Ffrench, Race two saw Danny Quayle lead the opening laps before Hargreaves returned to the front of the chasing pack, Ffrench come through on the last lap to clinch second ahead of Quayle, Ford, Craine and Moore. Quayle claimed the honours in race three after a holding off great challenges from Hargreaves, Craine took third ahead of Moore and Ffrench. Hargreaves made his move on lap two of the final race of the evening to take a hatrick of wins, Quayle took second ahead of Ffrench, Craine, Moore and Ford. The Barbary Coast trophies were awarded to Mark Hargreaves, Danny Quayle and Mike Craine with Georgina Moore taking the victory lane ladies award.
The A&J Butcher Bangers were last out on track and provided the crowd with plenty of thrills and spills, Race one saw John Garrod off on lap three and then was brought to a halt under waved yellow flags to remove the stricken car of Ryan Edmunds, once removed the race was restarted a further three laps were completed before the red flags came out after Robert Hooper got tangled in a crash and ended on the safey fence rolled onto his side, causing damage to the fence that had to be repaired before further racing could resume. Hooper climbed out of his car to the applause of the crowd. Lee Jordan was the eventual race winner from Steven Guest and Gary Crellin. Race two saw Nick Collister lead until the three laps to go boards were shown and ex formula two driver Dave Sutcliffe pushed his way through to claim his first banger victory ahead of Jordan, Guest, Garrod, Chris Moore, Collister and G.Crellin. Race three saw Moore take the early lead before Sutcliffe came through in the closing laps to claim his second victory of the evening ahead of Jordan, Guest, Moore and Garrod. Race four saw Collister claim the victory ahead of Stucliffe, Jordan, Guest and Moore. The Barbary Coast trophies were awarded to Lee Jordan, Dave Sutcliffe and Steven Guest.
Racing resumes next week with our visiting drivers over from the UK, we’re racing Monday 22nd, Thursday 25thand Saturday 27thwith all meetings starting at 7:30pm. We have the Formula 2 Manx Open Championship, Heritage Formula 2’s and the return of the Micro F2’s that visited us for the first time last year.
