U-drive karting sponsored Monday evening’s Stock car meeting. The Swift Motors production rods got the action underway starting with a clutch start as it was round one of the Gold cup championship held over the last three meetings of the season, Mark Hargreaves took the early lead in race one before Nick Ford came through to claim the honours ahead of Hargreaves, Josh Ffrench and Georgina Moore. Race two saw Moore take the lead from the drop of the green flag leading until the closing stages when Ford made his way to the front to claim his second win of the evening narrowly ahead of Moore, Mike Craine, Hargreaves and Ffrench. Moore took the lead again in race three taking the chequered flag ahead of Ford, Ffrench, Hargreaves and Craine. Race four saw one of the closest races of the evening with both Hargreaves and Ford crossing the line side by side, Hargreaves was awarded the victory with Ford second ahead of Craine, Moore and Ffrench. Craine took the early lead in race five followed closely by ford and after a couple of close laps switching positions Craine took the honours ahead of Ford, Hargreaves, ffrench and Moore. The U-Drive karting trophies were awarded to Nick Ford, Mark Hargreaves and Georgina Moore who also claimed the Victory lane ladies award trophy.
The A&J Quality Butchers bangers were next out on track providing plenty of action for the crowd with lots of bumper action and cars spinning in each race. Race one saw ten cars line up to battle it out for the top spot in round one of the Sword of State championship held over the final three meetings., Gary Crellin continued his recent top form claiming the chequered flag in race one escaping the carnage around the track, Dave Sutcliffe took second ahead of Lee Jordan, John Garrod, Jemma Moore, Steven Guest and Robert Hooper. Nick Collister, Chris Crellin and Cameron Reekie suffered damage ending their race early. Race two saw Gary again make his way to the front early on again unchallenged for the victory, Guest took second ahead of Jordan, Moore, C.Crellin and Garrod. Race three was again won by Gary with Jordan taking second ahead of Garrod, Guest, C.Crellin and Hooper. Gary continued to dominate in race four which was cut short after an incident on lap nine brought out the red flags, Gary took the chequered flag ahead of Garrod and Moore. The U-Drive Karting trophies were awarded to Gary Crellin, Lee Jordan and John Garrod. Racing resumes on Monday 2ndSeptember with the action getting underway at 7:30pm, we are also racing on Sunday 8thSeptember from 2pm for the final race of the season.
