MotaWorld sponsored mad Sundays’ stock car meeting featuring the banger team races. The Window Wizard Ministox, Race one saw Pemma Nissanka make his way to the front on lap two followed closely by Josh Watson, Jordan Halligan-Bunce, Harry Watson and Ben Kelly, the closing laps saw the cars bumper to bumper all aiming to take the chequered flag, Nissanka held on to claim the honours from J. Watson, Halligan-Bunce, H. Watson and Kelly. Race two saw J. Watson take the lead on the opening lap to take the flag ahead of H. Watson and Nissanka. Halligan-Bunce and Kelly both suffered mechanical issues retiring early in the race. Race three saw J. Watson repeat his tactics taking the lead on lap one not to be caught by H. Watson and Nissanka. Race four saw J. Watson make it a hatrick claiming the honours ahead of H. Watson, Nissanka and Halligan-Bunce who was still suffering mechanical issues. The MotaWorld trophies were awarded to Josh Watson, Harry Watson and Pemma Nissanka.
The Swift Motors Production Rods were next and the recent re grading of drivers made for some close racing. Mark Hargreaves made his way to the front at the end of lap one to claim the honours after a close battle with Mike Craine, Lauren Miller took third ahead of Josh Ffrench, Georgina Moore and new comer Danny Quayle. Getting to grips with the car Quayle led the early stages of race two holding off the more experienced driver until lap 5, Hargreaves came through to take his second victory of the evening ahead of Craine, Miller, Ffrench, Quayle and Moore. Race three saw Craine get the best start and claim a flag to flag victory followed closely by Hargreaves, Ffrench, Quayle, Miller and Moore. Craine again took to the front on lap one of race four pushed hard all the way by Hargreaves but held on to make it two wins each for the evening ahead of Hargreaves, Ffrench, Miller, Quayle and Moore. The MotaWorld trophies were awarded to Mike Craine, Mark Hargreaves and Josh Ffrench with Lauren Miller taking home the victory lane ladies award for highest placed female driver.
The A & J Butchers Bangers were last out on the track racing differently to normal as they were competing in teams. The drivers were split into four teams of two, race one saw newcomer Cameron Reekie’s race end before he got started after a slow start from another car Reekie ended up in the back of it causing damage to his car, Tom Richards was also victim of a few hits leaving him on the infield. Steven Guest took the lead from lap one and held on to take the honours ahead of Chris Crellin, Lee Jordan, Ashley Harrison, Grant Crellin and Gary Crellin. Race two saw Lee Jordan lead from the start before C. Crellin come through to take the honours on the line, Jordan took second from Harrison, Guest and Gary Crellin who took a hit that left his car stuck in reverse completed the race reversing around after causing a few crashes getting his car back into a position where he could complete the race. Race three saw Guest take another flag to flag victory ahead of C. Crellin, Jordan, Grant Crellin, Harrison and Gary Crellin. Race four saw the lads save the best till last with the race being red flagged on lap 6 after Jordan and C. Crellin battling for first picked up Grant Crellin sending him into the safety fence and rolling his car, Grant crawled out of the rear of his car as the engine went up in flames, thanks to the marshals and medics. Grants car was removed from the track and while they were dealing with his car, Grant made a return to the track in another car to finish the race. C. Crellin went on to win ahead of Gary Crellin, Harrison and Grant. After the chequered flag dropped the race turned to a demolition which Gary Crellin won. The MotaWorld trophies were awarded to Chris Crellin, Steven Guest and Ashley Harrison. The team race was sponsored by Old Lonan Church Farm Cottages with the winning team of Chris and Gary Crellin receiving £100 each. Gary Crellin took the demolition award. The next race is this Thursday 6thJune at 7:30pm featuring the bangers chain race.
