Jaks Bar and Steakhouse sponsored Mad Sunday’s stockcar meeting held in perfect conditions.
The Window Wizard Junior Rod’s were first out on the track with round one of three contesting the Jack and Marjorie Whitehead memorial shield, the white and yellow roof drivers got proceedings underway, racing in the Chemical Services championship. #800 Macauley Teare led from the start to claim the honours ahead of #118 Harry Merryweather and #111 Sam Cracknell.
Race two saw all drivers on the track 10 year old Harry Merryweather led the way until the closing stages where the more experienced drivers came through, #33 Shane Ellison won from #825 Cian Peers, #119 TJ Teare, Harry Merryweather held on to 4th, #58 Rio Osborne, #26 Shannon Moore, #41 Nicole Astell-Burt and # 111 Sam Cracknell.
Race three saw Shane Ellison take the chequered flag as Shannon Moore and TJ Teare came together on the back straight, Cian Peers took second ahead of Harry Merryweather, Nicole Astell-Burt, Rio Osborne and Sam Cracknell.
Race four also saw a last lap stoppage after Cian Peers and Rio Osborne came together, Shane Ellison won the race ahead of Nicole Astell-Burt, Harry Merryweather and Sam Cracknell.
Race five saw Harry Merryweather hold on to claim his maiden victory followed by Shane Ellison, Nicole Astell-Burt and Sam Cracknell.
The Jaks bar trophies were awarded to 1st Shane Ellison, 2nd Harry Merryweather, 3rd Nicole Astell-Burt with Macauley Teare taking the whites and yellow trophy.
The Mike’s Motors sponsored Production Rods were next out on the track with some more fast paced, close racing throughout the afternoon and this being the first of three meetings contesting the Gold Cup, meaning clutch starts for this annual trophy.
Race one saw #88 Callum Tilley take the early lead before #420 Lee Freestone made his way to the front to claim the honours ahead of #46 Steve Luton, #777 Martin Freestone, #358 Mark Hargreaves, #357 Jamie Turnbull and Callum Tilley.
Race two saw Steve Luton, Ian Kneale and Lee Freestone cross the line to start the last lap three abreast and an unfortunate coming together left Ian Kneale in the fence, Steve Luton claimed the honours from Lee Freestone, Mark Hargreaves, Jamie Turnbull and Ian Kneale.
Race three saw Lee Freestone take the honours again followed by Steve Luton, Mark Hargreaves, Ian Kneale, Jamie Turnbull and Callum Tilley.
Race four saw mechanical issues leave Jamie Turnbull watching from the infield, Steve Luton claimed his second victory of the afternoon followed by Mark Hargreaves and Ian Kneale.
The final race of the afternoon saw Steve Luton make it a hat-trick followed by Mark Hargreaves, Ian Kneale and Jamie Turnbull.

Our next meeting at Onchan Raceway takes place this Thursday 10thJune starting at 7.30pm and will feature Junior Rod’s and Production Rod’s.
Apologies for anyone who came expecting to see Bangers racing, the driver’s decided to boycott the event without reason, and with no notice.
This class has now been dropped, and replaced with Basic Bangers which will begin racing after the mid season break, when racing resumes on Sunday 27thJune at 2pm.
This meeting will feature Junior Rod’s, Production Rod’s and Basic Banger’s (there will not be a mid season demolition derby at this event)
